Dirt! The Movie

Gene Rosow and Bill Berenson • 2009 • 55 minutes

Dirt is very much “alive”-- made from the same elements as the stars, plants and animals, and us. But our human connection to and respect for soil has been disrupted. The film brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has and shares the stories of experts from all over the world who study and are able to harness the beauty and power of a respectful and mutually beneficial relationship with soil. It is a call to action. What we have destroyed, we can heal.

Blue Gold: World Water Wars

Sam Bozzo • 2009 • 90 minutes

This film sheds light on the world’s rapidly approaching water crisis and suggests that wars of the future will be fought over water, as they are today over oil, as the source of all life enters the global marketplace and political arena. A line is crossed as water becomes a commodity. As Maude Barlow proclaims, “This is our revolution, this is our war.” The film shows numerous worldwide examples of people fighting for their basic right to water, from court cases to violent revolutions to U.N. conventions to revised constitutions to local protests at grade schools. We can move forward.

Consume This Movie

Gene Brockhoff • 2009 • 80 minutes

Are Americans too materialistic? Are we willfully trashing the planetary ecology in order to serve the desires and drives of the ego? This film is a critical look at social injustice, peak oil, resource depletion and our deep need to feel connected to each other through what we choose to consume. It examines the frenzied pace of fast-lane materialism that is beginning to burn us out. Can we stop this runaway train that threatens to undermine the ecological, social and spiritual cornerstones that make the pursuit of happiness possible in the first place? It can be done, but we all must join in and share responsibility.
