Kate Corwin, Founder
In 1997 Kate left a career in telecommunications to found a manufacturing company. She grew the business to a point where her products were sold nationwide through catalogs and on-line. In 2005 Kate sold the company and began putting her entrepreneurial skills to work on the challenge of environmental justice, designing the concept and programming for Green Works.
In addition to her work with Green Works, Kate consults in the areas of strategic planning, community organizing and urban redevelopment for clients including LISC and the city of Kansas City, MO. As an adjunct professor at Rockhurst University Kate recently completed the McMeel Family Faculty Institute on Service-Learning.
Kate has served the community on the Landmarks Commission and the Zoning Steering Committee and currently serves on the board of MainCor, as a member of the Climate Sustainability Center Steering Committee and as Chair of the 43rd and Main TIF Advisory Board.
Kate is a recipient of a 2007 Environmental Excellence Award from Bridging the Gap and was named Eco Activist of the Year for 2009 by The Pitch. She is a member of Kansas City Tomorrow and International Women's Forum. Kate holds undergraduate degrees in Information Technology and Finance and an MA in Economics.
