Kate Corwin, Founder
In 2005, after a successful career in telecommunications and nine years as an entrepreneur, Kate sold her manufacturing business and began to design the concept for Green Works.  In 2007 she founded the organization, putting her businesses experience back to work, this time as a social entrepreneur in a non-profit model.  But to Kate, the non-profit framework does not change the underlying requirement to produce results, with sound financial management and accountability.  Kate runs Green Works in the same way she ran her for-profit company - lean, targeted and focused on outcomes.

In addition to her work with Green Works, Kate consults in the areas of strategic planning, community organizing and urban redevelopment for clients including LISC and the city of Kansas City, MO. As an adjunct professor at Rockhurst University Kate recently completed the McMeel Family Faculty Institute on Service-Learning.

Kate has served the community on the Landmarks Commission and the Zoning Steering Committee. She currently serves on the board of MainCor, as a member of the Climate Sustainability Center Steering Committee and as Chair of the 43rd and Main TIF Advisory Board, overseeing $3M in TIF investments.

Kate is a recipient of a 2007 Environmental Excellence Award from Bridging the Gap and was named Eco Activist of the Year for 2009 by The Pitch. She is a member of Kansas City Tomorrow and International Women's Forum. Kate holds undergraduate degrees in Information Technology and Finance and an MA in Economics.
