We had another full house on Saturday March 10th for our community education program called Caring for Birds. Speakers Paige Witek from the Missouri River Bird Observatory and Kimberly Hess from Lakeside Nature Center told us about their work and how to help birds. (Don’t use lawn chemicals, plant natives, use window decals on large expanses of glass, provide food and a water source in the winter, and drink coffee certified as bird friendly.)

Then Kimberly introduced us to three bird ambassadors from the center – a screech owl, peregrine falcon (in the photo) and a vulture.  It was an amazing and inspiring event – we’re lucky to have these wonderful organizations working in our region!
