Green Works Receives Largest Audubon Grant of the Year

Audubon Society

August 2012 – Green Works was awarded the largest Audubon TogetherGreen grant of 2012, a $50,000 Innovation Grant.

With this grant, Green Works and our partners will extend restoration on a section of Brush Creek running through the urban core of Kansas City. A natural oxbow formation there provides a unique urban habitat opportunity, but it is currently full of sediment. The project will include planting a riparian habitat, and restoring the function of the oxbow. We will also protect the oxbow area from nonpoint source pollution and combined sewer overflow, increasing the food supply for birds and other wildlife.
