Our Final Projects
We are wrapping up our work with three projects. These include a free nature curriculum, a light-hearted environmental education video featuring our ECOS nature club students and Eco Elvis, and publication of a Garden for Wildlife brochure. Learn more below.
Free Nature Curriculum
MeadowLarks Learning
We are creating a set of 16, 2-hour lessons designed for 4th – 7th graders. These lessons are based on our years of experience and combine nature themes with SEL and mental health concepts. Organizations using the lessons will need to have access to a nearby safe green space, but the lessons are designed to require only minimum supplies, and no special equipment.
The 8 fall lessons include nature themes of Monarch migration, decomposition, bats and owls, combined with SEL topics including cooperation, resiliency and empathy. All lessons will be available in the spring of 2027. Video with Eco Elvis
During our last semester of ECOS Nature Club we filmed a short educational video with our friend Matt Riggs (aka Eco Elvis) from Mid-America Regional Council. Along with Eco Elvis, we recruited Death too!
We only had an hour to film and our students were good sports. And as you can imagine, we created quite a scene outside the Discovery Center. We love the way our video turned out – it’s lighthearted, fun and educational. Please watch, smile and share!
